Jersey Boy, Nick Jonas Starring as Frankie Valli

In a production by Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King, Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is set to play Frankie Valli in a movie musical of the broadway show, Jersey Boys. This will be Jonas’ return to Broadway for the first time since 2012.

The four-time Tony Award-winning musical, Jersey Boys is a broadway play that dramatized the life of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The play chronicles the band’s formation as a group of Jersey singers turned into a global sensation. The musical includes their chart-topping songs like “Walk Like A Man” and “Oh, What A Night.” In 2007, the Jersey Boys: Original Broadway Cast Recording album won a Grammy Award for best musical theater album, with original Four Seasons member Gaudio as its producer. Currently, Jersey Boys is suspended from the New World Stages after having been at the August Wilson Theater for years.

Valli, 87, confirmed the New Jersey-bred Jonas Brothers member would portray him in the upcoming TV musical film, “Jersey Boys is being filmed for television and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is playing Frankie, and I’m really excited about that,” he said in June. The following month, Jonas, 28, shared on TikTok the “first day tech rehearsal on stage.”

Starring in the new filmed production of the Broadway musical is Matt Bogart as Nick Massi, Andy Karl as Tommy DeVito and CJ Pawlikowski as Bob Gaudio. The rest of the cast has yet to be announced. There has been no announcement regarding which streaming service will air Jersey Boys but with the success of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton on Disney+, Jersey Boys is sure to find a home. The streaming production has an estimated release date for  later this year and will be rated PG-13.
