The White Lotus, with Season 2 taking place in Sicily at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace, has become wildly popular and is sending the masses to plan their next trip to Sicily. The series, based around the life and adventures of the guests and hotel staff at The White Lotus hotel, just earned two SAG awards on February 26, 2023.
While “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once” swept the awards show, The White Lotus took home these two awards for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble In A Drama Series and Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Drama Series.
Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble In A Drama Series
The series took home the award for the best performance by an ensemble in a drama series over many other popular shows. The other nominees included: Better Call Saul, The Crown, Ozark, and Severance.
The ensemble cast includes Jennifer Coolidge, Theo James, Jon Gries, and Aubrey Plaza. Many of the other cast members have Italian or Italian descent, including Adam DiMarco, Beatrice Grannò, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Michael Imperioli.
Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Drama Series
Jennifer Coolidge took home the award for best performance by a female actor in a drama series. This win comes over other nominees like Elizabeth Debicki in The Crown, Julia Garner in Ozark, Laura Linney in Ozark, and Zendaya in Euphoria.
The entire cast of season 2 reunited at the awards ceremony on Sunday evening. "This was the best job I ever had," F. Murray Abraham said in an acceptance speech on behalf of the cast. Abraham thanked the creators and producers for “pulling together an international company of technicians and actors. And we all lived together in the same place, we all ate together, and we all worked together. So this is not only for the actors, this is for the entire company."
