A Look Inside Tuscany’s Most Admired Wine

The noble Florentine family of Marquises Antinori have been wine producers since 1325, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori entered the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, the Florentine Winemakers Guild. Antinori was recently voted “The World’s Most Admired Wine Brand 2023” by a jury of experts composed of masters of wine, sommeliers, buyers, journalists, and industry experts from throughout the world. This marks the first time a prestigious Italian winery is positioned at number one. Just a few months ago, the Marchesi Antinori Company itself was awarded the title of “World's Best Vineyards 2022.”

Piero, the father, is the honorary president of the Company. His daughters Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia are the operational soul of the Tuscan company that boasts 600 years of incessant activity. In the top 50 rankings of most admired brands we also find Sassicaia Tenuta San Guido, also in Tuscany, positioned in sixth place, followed by the Piedmontese company Gaja, queen of Barbaresco and Langhe.

Positioned at 21st place in the rankings is Tignanello, another Marchesi Antinori brand, sealing the success of the family’s high quality wines that remains so over time with constancy and tenacity. In 25th place we find the Sicily region represented with Planeta, and back to Tuscany, Ornellaia and Frescobaldi appear in the 33rd and 34th positions.

Excitement over this achievement is palpable at Antinori headquarters, “It is really a great satisfaction for our family and for our whole company,” brand President Albiera Antinori declared in the daily newspaper La Repubblica. “Being the first Italians chosen in the history of this ranking as ‘The World's Most Admired Wine Brand’ gives us great pride and represents an important recognition for the whole world of Italian wine, which witnesses many examples of excellence in our territory,” she said.
