Bruce Springsteen has many things to be proud of over the course of his Hall of Fame career spanning six decades. The legendary rockstar has sold more than 140 million records worldwide and won 20 Grammy Awards. In addition to his accolades on stage and in the recording studio, “The Boss” boasts perhaps one of the most beautiful ancestral hometowns of all Italian American celebrities. Cascading through the coastal cliffs of the Sorrentine Peninsula, the small city of Vico Equense is simply breathtaking.  

Here are some facts about Vico Equense:

  • Vico Equense is an elevated coastal city of 20,000 residents in the middle of the Sorrentine Peninsula, Gulf of Naples, and the Gulf of Salerno. 
  • The city is home to one of the most sacred Presepe traditions in Italy, the Pacchianelle, which takes place each January 6th. 
  • Springsteen’s maternal ancestors, whose name was Zirilli, immigrated to the United States from Vico Equense in the late 1800’s. 
  • One of the most celebrated delicacies is Provolone del Monaco, which has been made proudly by local residents since the year 1700.
