House of Gucci Sold for Millions in Milan

After 15 years on the market, the most expensive apartment in Italy has been sold. As reported by Italy’s La Stampa, the palatial Milanese penthouse where Maurizio Gucci, owner, and heir of the Gucci Fashion dynasty, lived with his wife Patrizia Reggiani was purchased by Indian multi-billionaire Rishal Shah for a record price of 20 million euros. Shah is the founder and owner of Jekson Vision, a global provider of manufacturing inspection solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.

The Indian tycoon became aware of the house thanks to his network of friends and presented an offer to buy the lavish penthouse apartment. The purchase was completed in 2022 with the definitive conclusion of the deal and the signing also for the tenth and eleventh floors following the completion of the previous owner’s renovation works.

The Gucci name, synonymous with Italian charm and luxury, had a renaissance in 2021 when Ridley Scott’s film, “House of Gucci”, took theaters by storm and told the sensational story of murder, madness, glamor, and greed.

Located on the corner of Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza San Babila, and Corso Europe, the 19,000-square-foot three-floor apartment is truly magnificent. The first floor features 37 windows that offer 360-degree views of Milan. Above the second floor, you’ll find an enormous terrace and an 8,600-square-foot rooftop floor that holds a swimming pool, a garden, a kitchen, and a bar. The condo fees are between $53,000 and $105,000 per year.

According to the TecnoCasa 2023 Report, Milan is the most expensive city in Italy to buy a home. The average price per square meter is $4,300 USD, a very high figure considering that houses of at least 750 square feet are sought after. The report shows that Milan stands out as the city with the highest price tag, followed by Rome and Florence, while the cheapest cities are Palermo and Genoa.
