Italy Opens Doors to Elon Musk and Tesla

Tesla, the electric car production company, is expanding manufacturing outside of the United States, having gigafactories in China and in Germany. With the announcement of a new factory being built, Italy is encouraging Tesla to call them their next home.

The Italian minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini has said that Italy has opened its doors to Elon Musk and Tesla at a webinar held by the Italian Outlet Il Messagero. The car industry has slowly disappeared from Italy, and with the addition of Tesla, they hope to bring in more foreign investors.

Salvini said, "inviting Elon Musk to invest in Italy and open in Italy is one of those ambitious goals that we are setting ourselves. I know that he has some problems with landing in Germany, and we are opening our doors wide for him."

Italy has been home to luxury car brands Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati, but they do not have any electric vehicles being released until after 2023. Tesla currently has four electric models available for purchase, with the entire company having a firm grasp on the electric vehicle industry.

It is interesting to note that the casting machines used in Tesla factories are created by the Italian company IDRA. IDRA has also produced a machine that is capable of building a cybertruck. The "giga-press" as it is called, produces Tesla's single-cast vehicles, making at least one part of the company already rooted in Italy.
