Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Nick Sirianni, is having himself quite the year. He has led his team to achieve a 14-3 record during the regular NFL season, topping the NFC East. The Eagles have no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
In the thick of the NFL playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles recently beat the New York Giants, 38-7. It’s clear the Eagles are tackling through each week to be Super Bowl contenders. The city of brotherly love is cheering on its beloved team.
But, did you know that their head coach, Nick Sirianni, is Italian-American?
Sirianni, originally from Jamestown, NY, is Italian-American on his mother and father’s side of the family. Born to Fran and Amy Sirianni, his father Fran was the head coach of his high school football team at Southwestern Central High School. It’s safe to say that coaching has been in Sirianni’s blood.

- Nick has two brothers, Mike and Jay, who are also coaches. Mike Sirianni is the head coach of Washington & Jefferson College. Jay Sirianni won two state championships with Southwestern Central High School before stepping down in 2015.
- Nick Sirianni started coaching at the University of Mount Union, his Alma Mater. He went on to be a quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. Sirianni moved on to be the quarterback coach of the San Diego Chargers and Offensive Coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts. On January 24, 2021, he became the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
- Sirianni was a Division III wide receiver at the University of Mount Union. He won three National Championships in 2000, 2001, and 2002. While he started for three seasons, he never went on to play professional football.
- While the Eagles have had 21 head coaches throughout the span of their history, Sirianna is the first Italian American head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.
