Meet the Newest, Unhinged, Over the Top Italian Restaurant

Get ready to eat at the playfully inauthentic Italian restaurant in New York City called Bad Roman. Located one story below the three Michelin starred Per Se on the third floor of the Time Warner Center at 10 Columbus Circle between West 58th and 59th street. The food here is decadent and the experience is a spectacle.

The restaurant is owned by Quality Branded, who’s best known for its line of quality restaurants, including Don Angie and Smith and Wollensky. You’ll find restaurants like Quality Eats, Quality Meats, Quality Italian, the line of Italian restaurants that meet modern steakhouse as well as Quality Bistro, their French inspired restaurant. They’re also the owners and operators of Zou Zou’s in Hudson Yards, Manhattan.

With Bad Roman, the restaurant group is pushing the envelope to appeal to the masses without completely reaching over the cliff. The irreverent restaurant plans to give their customers a taste of regional Italian and Italian American cuisine with a fun twist. “This is not Don Angie,” Michael Stillman, founder of the hospitality group says.

Order anything on the menu and you’ll find familiar dishes in the most unfamiliar way. Popular dishes will be their clams casino topped with capellini pasta paired with a side of pepperoni cups with ranch dressing eaten by hand. You’ll also find two-pound lobsters covered in Calabrian pasta and basil leaves.

When designing the restaurant, Stillman wanted the designers to “have fun with it.” Step into the dining room and you’ll find hanging plants, orange banquettes, views of the Manhattan skyline, as well as many different statues like wild boars and Italian Greyhounds. Go into the bathroom and there’s a full sized fountain waiting for you. Bad Roman opened on February 17th and is open from 5pm to 11pm daily.
