Paul Sorvino, Dies at 83

Actor Paul Sorvino died today at age 83. 

The star of “Goodfellas,” “Nixon,” “Kill The Irishman” and “Joe Torre: Curveballs Along the Way" was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1939. He made his big screen debut in 1970, but rose to prominence as gangster Paul Cicero in “Goodfellas.” He also played the role of NYPD Sergeant Phil Cerreta on the TV series Law & Order. He earned a Tony nomination for his role in "That Championship Season,” in which he reprised his film role on stage. 

According to reports, Sorvino died of natural causes after experiencing health issues in recent years. 

“My heart is rent asunder — a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over. He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much. I’m sending you love in the stars Dad as you ascend,” his daughter, actress Mira Sorvino, posted on Twitter. 

Sorvino is survived by his wife and three children, and five grandchildren.
