Make sure to leave your kids at home if you plan to eat at Nettie’s House of Spaghetti in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. The Italian restaurant took to social media on February 9th to announce the newest change at their restaurant: no kids allowed.
The rule isn’t strict in the sense that it only prohibits kids under the age of 10 from eating at the restaurant. While this may be an issue for some parents who might feel restricted from eating at Nettie’s, the establishment released a full statement on Facebook so their community can understand the radical decision.
The post states, “Between noise levels, lack of space for high chairs, cleaning up crazy messes, and the liability of kids running around the restaurant, we have decided that it’s time to take control of the situation.” They continued by saying, “This wasn’t a decision that was made lightly, but some recent events have pushed us to implement this new policy.”
Management is aware that some parents will be very upset by the recent decision, especially those with well-behaved children.
This isn’t the only restaurant in the country to do so. In Houston, Texas a Mexican restaurant made the decision to ban children under the age of 8 from dining after 7:00PM due to multiple complaints of disrupting other diners and poor behavior causing them to lose customers.
Some who work in the restaurant industry agree with this change. Those in the industry say children are disruptive and many parents are “oblivious” to their children’s poor behavior and how they distract other patrons enjoying a meal.
Nettie’s House of Spaghetti will begin enforcing the new rule on March 8th.
