Disney has begun working on a new series for Disney+ titled "Uonderbois." The film is going to be based on many of the popular legends of Naples, Italy. The series is going to be centered around five twelve-year-old boys, who are connected by their love of imagination, growing up on the streets of Naples.
The boys believed in the existence of "Uonderboi," a combination of the "Munaciello" and a modern-day robin hood. The "Munaciello" is a Neopolitan urban legend of a little monk who causes mischief, pulling clothes off people, stealing bedsheets, and harassing housewives. He's known to appear in the night to those who are desperate and bring them to his hidden treasures while asking for nothing in return.
The series will focus on the group venturing into the underground of Naples, discovering that there is always a pinch of truth behind every urban legend.
The series cast includes Serena Rossi, Massimiliano Caiazzo, Catello Buonocore, Christian Chiummariello, and will also have participation by Nino D’Angelo.
"Uonderbois," is part of Disney's new initiative of over 60 productions happening locally throughout Europe in 2024. Disney wants to work with creators and producers that are connected to the source to develop and produce original productions in Europe.
