Yankees Owner Closed Aaron Judge Deal on Italian Vacation

Hal Steinbrenner Negotiated with AL MVP from Italy

Major League Baseball super slugger and current American League MVP, Aaron Judge, is reportedly re-signing with the New York Yankees on a nine-year, $360 million deal, and the deal was made “Italian style.”

According to multiple reports, Hal Steinbrenner, who is the Chairman and Managing General Partner of Yankee Global Enterprises, who owns the Yankees, was vacationing in Italy when he closed the deal to keep Judge in the early hours of the morning. Yankee Global Enterprises are also a minority shareholder in the Italian soccer club AC Milan of Serie A.

Judge is coming off a historic 62-home run season for The Bronx Bombers. To go along with the 62 home runs, he recorded a .311 batting average and an MLB-best .425 on-base percentage. Judge became just the 10th player to post multiple 50-plus-home run seasons in MLB history. He totaled 50 in his Rookie of the Year-winning season in 2017.

The Yankees finished in first place in the Al East in 2022 with a regular season record of 99-63.
