Imax Holiday Blockbuster Hits Italy
Avatar: The Way Of Water has grossed more than $1 billion in ticket sales around the world – including $23.8 million, and counting, in Italy.
The newest installment of the Avatar series is the fastest movie to reach the $100 million mark since April 2019. As of the time of press, the winter blockbuster has grossed $1,030,118,839 worldwide.
It is also the ninth film in Imax history to exceed $100m at the global box office. Avatar: The Way Of Water has been the widest Imax global release on 1,543 screens at its peak. At least one theater in Italy, UCI Cinemas in Località del Cucco, is showing the film in Imax format.
According to a report in Deadline, Italy’s busiest day at the movies came on the Monday after Christmas.
